Vice President Joe Biden stressed unwavering USA support for Israel, saying Wednesday there should be “no doubt” America has its longtime ally’s back, NBC News reported.
“Mr. Biden is only coming to the region in the context of his plans regarding the fight against terrorism in Syria, not for us”, he told AFP, referring to talks between Biden and Netanyahu on the Islamic State jihadist group.
Shortly after that incident, a 16-year-old male Palestinian was shot and killed after he tried to stab a soldier at an army position near the Palestinian village of Salfit.
The US State Department “in strongest possible terms” also condemned the “outrageous terrorist attacks in Jaffa, Petah Tikvah and Jerusalem, which tragically claimed the life of US citizen Taylor Allen Force and left many others severely injured”. It was launched after PLO leader Yasser Arafat rejected an Israeli offer of a Palestinian state during U.S.-mediated negotiations in the summer of 2000.
Palestinian attackers unleashed a series of shooting and stabbing assaults on Israelis on Tuesday.
For more than five months, there has been a rash of Palestinian attacks on Israeli civilians and security forces.
Israel blames incitement by Palestinian leaders and media as a main cause of the violence.
In Jerusalem, Israeli security forces shot and killed two Palestinians they say had opened fire and wounded another man.
The current tension situation is ongoing since October first 2015, due to repetitive Israeli settler attacks on Al-Aqsa mosque, the third holiest place in Islam, and Israeli restrictions over Palestinian entrance, in addition to the Duma arson attack which killed a baby and his parents on July, 31.
Biden then headed to Jaffa to meet with former Israeli president Shimon Peres at the Peres Center for Peace.
Others were shot dead by Israeli forces during clashes or demonstrations.
Israeli authorities were investigating whether his injuries were the result of police or assailant gunfire. Police are investigating whether the man, who was identified by the Palestinian Ma’an News Agency as Imad Abu Ali, 57, of the Old City, was shot by the gunmen or by police.

Israeli police spokeswoman Luba Samri says police arrested about 250 Palestinians from the West Bank who were in Israel without valid permits, as part of a security crackdown since the Jaffa stabbing.
