Why Did SportsCenter Apologize To The Patriots Last Night?

The apology was for a mistake made whereas addressing the Pats’ 2002 so-called “Spygate” scandal and never a controversial report on underinflated footballs throughout New England’s present so-called “Deflategate” firestorm.

The Patriots tweeted ESPN’s apology Thursday morning. The Patriots were quick to point out that they had received an apology from the network, even if it wasn’t directly about Deflategate reporting. The Patriots shared video of the apology on their official Twitter account. The subsequent courtroom date is August 31, as each side should Decide Richard M. Berman within the U.S. District Courtroom in New York Metropolis.

Sypgate had been introduced up as a previous run-in with the league by ESPN personalities through the dialogue surrounding the staff’s present Deflategate scandal. During that discussion ESPN re-reported the retracted story from the Boston Herald, which they apologized for.

“The Boston Herald regrets the damage done to the team by publication of the allegation, and sincerely apologizes to its readers and to the New England Patriots’ owners, players, employees and fans for our error”.

The apology was delivered by SportsCenter anchor Steve Levy at about 12:20 a.m. EDT Thursday during a late-night edition of the program, according to USA Today’s sports blog For The Win.

The Boston Herald reported in February 2008 that the Pats filmed the Rams walkthrough and practice before Super Bowl XXXVI. “We strive to be accurate in all of our reporting and fair to those we cover”.
