“If you run a positive campaign, the voters ultimately will make the right choice”.

With that, “Game of Thrones” made history. The only truly odd note was a poor attempt at a Bill Cosby joke.

The HBO drama fell short in the acting categories, though stars Peter Dinklage, Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke, Lena Headey, and Maisie Williams got nods in their supporting roles – potentially cancelling each other out, with “Downton Abbey’s” Maggie Smith and “Bloodline’s” Ben Mendelsohn taking the gongs. “I think it’s changing the landscape, period”, he said.

Jeffrey Tambor, who plays her transgender ex-spouse and is vying to repeat as best comedy actor, shared serious words about the series.

“She goes to other awards!” Do that. (…) I would not be unhappy were I the last cisgender male to play a female transgender on television.

Smith, who’s been nominated for nine Emmys dating back to 1993 and won four times, has never appeared at the ceremony (“That’s right, no times”, Kimmel emphasised), instead she’s been replaced by a greyscale 8×10 picture whenever she’s read out as a nominee.

Dame Maggie Smith has said she was “astonished” to win another Emmy as she issued a playful response to Jimmy Kimmel’s jokes about her repeated failure to attend the awards show.

Smith, a nine-time Emmy nominated actor and four-time victor, was honoured with the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series Award for her role in Downton Abbey. “You lost and now you gotta stand out here for the rest of the night in front of everybody”. “I feel the Emmys has been overly generous to me”, Smith said via the Masterpiece PBS Twitter account.

Emily Ratajkowski complained thst the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that Jimmy Kimmel’s mom made for Emmy guests were bad.

It seemed everyone in the crowd was happy to get a little sustenance in their bodies, but there was one person who wasn’t impressed: Emily Ratajkowski.

Veep” star Julia Louis-Dreyfus is in the hunt for her fifth best comedy actress trophy for her portrayal of vice president-to-president Selina Meyer. “I’m so glad that he liked Veep because his opinion was the one that really mattered”, she said.
