Why Hillary Clinton could rebound after New Hampshire

As Bernie Sanders’ dominant lead in New Hampshire slips, new polling suggest he’s eliminated Hillary Clinton’s significant lead with Democratic voters nationally. Clinton said that Sanders manipulated endorsements of Hillary Clinton to his advantage and rejected critics as anti-establishment. Instead, the 69-year-old lashed out at the Sanders campaign for what he described as inaccurate and “sexist” attacks on his wife.

Manchester, New Hampshire (CNN)Hillary and Bill Clinton didn’t back off their critiques of Bernie Sanders during a rally in Manchester on Monday, despite receiving some negative press for them the day earlier. The Sanders campaign was accused of trying to steal the Clinton campaign data, and locked out of the database until it sued in federal court to regain access to own data.

Sanders also reportedly told CNN on Sunday, “Anybody who’s supporting me and doing sexist things – we don’t want them…I don’t want them”.

President Clinton softened his criticism of Sanders, though only by a notch.

Clinton said she isn’t anxious about her position in the polls, calling Sanders’ lead a backyard advantage.

“I think Granite Staters are pretty hardy”, Clinton said. The latest, from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell and 7 News, shows the Vermont senator enjoying a 16-point lead over the former secretary of state.

Bill Clinton, without saying Sanders’ name, has been critical of the senator yesterday and today. As she stood beside the candidate on Saturday, she addressed the crowd to “just remember, there’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women“. “People voting, particularly in a Democratic primary and I would hope even voting in the Republican primary, care about the disgrace of what’s happened”. He told the story of a female “progressive” blogger who defended Mrs. Clinton online through a pseudonym because, he said, the vitriol from Mr. Sanders’s backers was so unrelenting. “The idea is that we need a more forward-looking message, for the primary – but also for the general election too…. We are Hillary’s sisters”, New Hampshire Sen.

On Friday, his campaign scheduled a press conference to promote the endorsement of former NAACP President Ben Jealous.

“Bill really should avoid any overt, reductive mockery of the appeal of Sanders’ broad critique of our political system, which risks alienating Sanders supporters who are getting engaged in the political process, many no doubt for the first time in their lives”, he wrote.
