In recently leaked emails from Powell, the former secretary of state expressed frustration over Hillary Clinton’s attempt to scapegoat him, Politico reported. “That’s what the 99% believe. I said nothing about servers, basements, domains, Clinton foundation, government employees”, Powell wrote.

A cybersecurity firm during that time said the hacker who claimed credit for acquiring the emails was likely Russian, not Romanian as he let on, and may reportedly have ties to Vladimir Putin’s intelligence network.
The hack into Powell’s email account is the latest work of suspected Russia-backed hackers, following leaks from a number of prominent Democratic organizations throughout the summer. A member of Powell’s staff told CBS News they had “no idea who did it and no further comment at this time”. Powell said he exhausted of Clinton and her team using him as an example of a Secretary of State who used a private email server.
Powell’s own email use has become a focal point in the controversy surrounding Clinton’s use of a private server. ABC, CBS, and NBC all ignored how Powell accused former President Bill Clinton of “dicking bimbos at home”.
In one message obtained by BuzzFeed, Powell hints at the fact that he will likely endorse Clinton in the fall, but yet another takes a much more unfavorable position – and specifically targets her husband Bill Clinton.

In that email, Mr Powell lamented that he had repeatedly told Ms Clinton’s “minions” that they are “making a mistake trying to drag me in, yet they still try”.
Trump “is in the process of destroying himself, no need for Dems to attack him”.
Personal email exchanges leaked on Tuesday and Wednesday reveal the retired four-star general’s contempt for Trump, whose conspiracy theories surrounding Barack Obama’s place of birth Powell also labels as “racist”.
They only mentioned Powell criticized Clinton, but didn’t quote anything. Mr Powell did not respond to an e-mail sent to his personal account.

And in a December 2015 email to CNN anchor Fareed Zakaria, Powell recounted his aversion to speaking about Trump to the press, writing, “You guys are playing his game, you are his oxygen”.
