Why is it only ‘Happy Holidays’ and not ‘Merry Christmas’?
What do you say in this day and age of political correctness run amuck? Here is a good one by Charles Dickens: “I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year”. Probably nothing. And yet, probably everything.

Billions of people around the world view Christmas as a special time to celebrate with family and friends, and a time to focus on the joy of giving. A Christmas village is also found in a corner of our Home. Christmas time. It will always be Merry to me. The holiday celebration is about Christmas, and Christmas is about this holiday celebration. Among Christians only, the percentage was 96 percent. Happy, they are, to live their lives and let others live theirs. And they openly admit it to researchers.
Complaining about politically correct salutations is just as annoying as the PC folks who perpetuate them. I just love to see it how it is.
So, as we enter these latter weeks of December, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy Eid al-Fitr, Saint Nicholas Day, Eid’ul-Adha, Fiesta of Our Lady of Guadalupe, St. Lucia Day, Hanukkah, Three Kings Day/Epiphany, Boxing Day, Kwanzaa, Omisoka, Yule, Saturnalia, and a very Happy New Year! But I did anyway.
That’s it. There’s nothing more intended.
Getting someone wishes on Christmas day is a happy time.
To me, all of the expressions – and many others – are an expression of well-wishes based on the context of our different upbringings. You may use them in speaking the best wishes or send to your friends.
I hope Juan will understand what I mean.
An alternative Christmas narrative first took center stage in American culture with the popular music of the ’40s, when secularized holiday songs started dominating the airwaves during December. Like it or not, it’s clearly ingrained in our society. I and the many I know understand that it is celebrated by all denominations of the Christian faith.
