After Gupta noted it was a direct quote from an interview the businessman conducted with NBC in 2004, Ivanka Trump seemed to take umbrage and to try to refocus the interview.

Working mother Ivanka Trump stood next to her father, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, when he revealed his child care plan this week.
Ivanka responded, “The policy is fleshed out online, so you can go see all the elements of it. Can you talk a little about those comments, and perhaps what has changed?”
You know, as much as I’d like to think Ivanka was thrown into this politcal mess out of lack of choice, I’m starting to believe more and more that she truly believes in everything her father says.
She said the question was “an unfair characterization of his track record and his support of professional women”.
Gupta: OK, I just wanted to make sure I understood.
At this point in the election cycle, with the big day less than two months away, you’d think that Ivanka Trump would be used to juggling questions about her father’s controversial statements.
An undated employee handbook from the Trump International Hotel Las Vegas obtained by the Huffington Post says workers are only eligible for unpaid family leave, as mandated by federal law. Trump said of his daughter’s agreeing to do the interview with Gupta, apparently unaware that Gupta is a woman. She went on to explain that the Trumps are primarily concerned with mothers because they have to physically recover from childbirth.
IVANKA TRUMP: And most people don’t realize that it’s the single-largest household expense in much of this country, even exceeding the cost of housing. Those are your words. “The plan, right now, is focusing on mothers, whether they be in same-sex marriages or not”, the businesswoman responded. Among other things, she asked about why the plan doesn’t call for paternity leave, or leave for adoptive or same-sex couples.
Trump defended her father as Gupta pressed her for answers on how he plans to pay for such policies. They’ve let her slide on every indiscrepancy, on every lie, on every DNC game trying to get Bernie Sanders out of this thing.
Shortly afterwards, Ivanka said: “I’m going to jump off, I have to run”.
“I said, ‘Don’t let it bother you, ‘” he continued”. On child care specifically, there are no proposals on the table.
Uh oh! Ivanka Trump has found herself playing serious defense on a sensitive topic in her father’s new child care plan, which she helped craft.
