Why Liverpool Manager, Jurgen Klopp Snubbed Rival In Dramatic Fashion

A 96th-minute deflected strike from Divock Origi salvaged a point for Liverpool as they drew 2-2 against West Brom at Anfield in the Premier League. However, just nine minutes later, the Baggies were on level terms, when Craig Dawson netted after Simon Mignolet had flapped at a corner.

The draw sees Liverpool move into 9th place on 24 points, one clear of Merseyside rivals Everton while it’s as you were for West Brom in 13th place.

“I said to Mignolet at half time, if someone says its his fault, tell them it’s not true, it’s mine”.

“I have nothing negative to say about Simon”. I want the goalkeeper to come out because he can help.

Klopp celebrated wildly in front of the Albion bench and waved away offers of a handshake after the final whistle – although was eventually pulled into one by assistant head coach Mark O’Connor – before leading delirious celebrations in front of the Kop with his players.

The Belgium striker, only on the field because of a potentially serious injury to Dejan Lovren from Craig Gardner’s reckless knee-high tackle, fired in from distance with the aid of a deflection in the sixth of eight additional minutes after the Croat’s lengthy treatment.

“If you want to make a big story with this, please go ahead”.

However, all the talk after the game was centred around the home side’s unusual acknowledgement of the home crowd, with Klopp instructing his players to link arms and pay tribute to the Anfield supporters.

But afterwards Klopp played down Lovren’s injury and maintained there would be no feud with Pulis, saying: “We don’t know too much about [Lovren]”. I did not today, because it was not a friendly game.

He said: “It was the best atmosphere in my time in England, absolutely great and I wanted to say thank you”.

The opening goal came when Christian Benteke laid the ball back to Alberto Moreno, whose angled cross was headed down by Adam Lallana for Henderson to sweep in on the half-volley.

‘Overall, we’re disappointed we haven’t won the game, ‘ he confessed. I spoke to him, it felt not too bad.

“Gardner has played the ball”.

Yet despite the relief at salvaging a draw after last weekend’s 2-0 defeat by Newcastle, Henderson rued the club’s failure to earn a crucial three points in their charge for Champions League football.
