In an interview with American Way magazine, the X-Men: Apocalypse star revealed she was offered a role in another X-flick first – Fox’s megahit Deadpool!

At least Olivia Munn has a valid reason for rejecting “Deadpool” in favor of “X-Men: Apocalypse”, even if Captain Hindsight might declare that a bad call. “She has really powerful abilities, ‘” Munn said.
Gotham’s Morena Baccarin went on to play Vanessa, while a sequel for Deadpool is now in the works.
Munn’s character Psylocke is a telepathic, sword-swinging mutant soldier in the Bryan Singer-directed movie. Munn emphasized how much she wanted to fight by saying that her actions could, in some ways, speak for her. “The fight scene”, said Munn, smiling, “could be her monologue”.
For X-Men Munn had a big question during her early meetings about the character.

Munn also discussed her upcoming role as Psylocke, who she’s happy to play, especially because of her action scenes. She is featured in the trailers, but so are a dozen other characters. Despite assurances from the producers, she had a feeling the role would be more talking and less fighting. When most superheroes don’t enjoy killing or don’t want to kill but they will kill if they have to, Psylocke can create anything with her mind. Let’s just hope Psylocke lives up to the hype. We were already excited to see X-Men: Apocalypse, but now we can’t wait to see Olivia kick some major butt!
