The Xbox One version of Rock Band 4 will be priced higher than $60 because it allows players to keep using their existing kits.

Rock Band 4 will be released on the PS4 and Xbox One. Legacy Rock Band and third-party guitars and drum sets will work just fine out of the box without any additional hardware.

“The adapter plugs into your Xbox One via USB and wirelessly supports up to four controllers simultaneously”.

Harmonix has also issues a full list that explains which peripherals that have been associated with the franchise over its history can be used for the coming installment, which fans will need to carefully consult to make the best decisions when it comes to their upcoming purchase.

It will not be part of the core package and gamers will have to get it separately, although it will be offered at the same time as Rock Band 4 launches. As far as why the Xbox One version requires this adapter, while the PS4 version doesn’t, Harmonix says “With Xbox One, Microsoft updated the wireless connectivity security protocol that exists between wireless controllers and the receiver on the console”. This week, the likes of Cake, Arctic Monkey, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Soundgarden are confirmed to be included on the Rock Band 4 disc.
