Why the Clinton Foundation draws both praise and criticism
Numerous exchanges involve former top Foundation executive Doug Band.

Seven months after a federal judge ruled that the State Department must release Clinton’s detailed daily planners in monthly batches, an attorney for the State Department told the Associated Press on Thursday that the release of the approximate 2,700 pages of remaining emails will not be finished until well after the November election.
Considering that Clinton was a public servant, you would figure it would be easy for the AP to get her schedules, right? Earlier this month, the New York Times reported issues of compromised USA interests and nepotism: “an executive at the Clinton Foundation in 2009 sought to put a billionaire donor in touch with the United States ambassador to Lebanon because of the donor’s interests there”.
Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence said in a statement released by the Trump campaign the AP report merits the appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate ethical lapses and potential wrongdoing in Clinton’s State Department. Prior to the appointment, Fernando had given between $100,000 and $250,000 to the William J. Clinton Foundation. While Trump has donated to the foundation previously, he has charged Hillary Clinton with creating a “pay-for-play” scheme at the State Department through the work of the foundation. The GOP is hoping to find something untoward in the Clinton schedule while also painting her as untrustworthy.
“State also made clear that department officials ‘are in touch with a wide range of outside individuals, organizations, nonprofits, NGOs, think tanks, ‘ and others as part of normal business”, Schwerin said. Eight Blackstone executives also gave between $375,000 and $800,000 to the foundation.
Clinton spokesman Josh Schwerin said “Once again this right-wing organization that has been going after the Clintons since the 1990s is distorting facts to make utterly false attacks”.
But by an ironic twist of fate, it is that deep disdain for the seedy nature of politicians like Clinton that has led to the nomination of the one candidate who will struggle to beat her in the presidential race. The court determined that placing aggregate limits on campaign contributions is not valid and does not prevent corruption. It is hypocritical for Clinton to decry Citizens United, but behave consistent with the worst fears of those who care about the influence of money in politics. “When Democrats do that, they call it a conflict”, Brazile said. She said the foundation had provided “life-saving work”, adding that neither she nor her husband had ever drawn a salary from the charity.
The emails also show that certain donors were frustrated by their inability to quickly pull strings. Combined, the 85 donors contributed as much as $156 million.
Bill Clinton said the foundation would no longer hold annual meetings of its worldwide aid program, the Clinton Global Initiative, and it would spin off its foreign-based programs to other charities.
“I think what you can say is there were staff members of the foundation communicating with staff members of State, and all of those staff members probably could have used an very bad lot more discipline around that separation”, Himes said.

“Hopefully, this situation tips the scales in favor openness and accountability to ensure that our government isn’t captured by those with money or access”, Amey said.
