Why the ‘Drummond puddle’ in Newcastle is now internet famous
“It was an amusement watching people through the window trying to negotiate the puddle, so we chose to set up a camera” says Rippon. Not only that but the hashtag #DrummondPuddleWatch quickly became the second top trending topic on Twitter in THE WORLD.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, or now scuba-diving under the surface of a different giant puddle, you’ll know that people are now OBSESSED with a HUGE puddle in Newcastle…
In November, people used Periscope to live stream the streets of Paris during the terrorist attacks, and CNN has used the app during events like the birth of the royal baby.
Less sprightly pedestrians had to fearless the water and walk through it.
Soon the puddle’s fame began to spread and people began arriving holding surfboards and a lilo. By the time it was over, 547,819 people had watched the stream.
One tweeted: ‘#DrummondPuddleWatch has ruined productivity today”, while another wrote: “This is bizarrely compelling’.
Over 20,000 people at last count have tuned in to watch people try to cross the body of water.

The masterminds of the puddle stream were from Drummond Central, a British marketing agency.
