Why the Giants Look Like a Dark Horse Playoff Team on MNF

Miami interim coach Dan Campbell leaned against a lectern and squeezed hard on both sides, as if trying to reduce the wood to rubble while he discussed another mess of a season.

“Obviously this is not where we want to be”, quarterback Ryan Tannehill said, “but here we are”.

While the Vikings’ recent record in prime time games is problematic, this is a hump that this team is going to have to get over eventually…after all, there aren’t a lot of noon Central time kickoffs in the National Football League post-season.

“I think he’s at his best most of the time, to be honest with you”, Coughlin said. I want it to hurt. It motivates me and it pisses me off.

“I wasn’t going to be able to make it through the game”, Beckham said of how he was feeling.

“There is no excuse”, Campbell said.

Campbell also said Grimes, who dealt with a knee injury earlier this year, is healthy. If the results of that field test are anything like the past seven years, there should be plenty of change coming to Miami in the next few months. We can call it all we want. I’m not going to come in here with a smile on my face. The biggest catch, an 84-yard touchdown for the game-winning points, came on a mistake by Dolphins safety Reshad Jones, among the team’s best players.

Odell Beckham Jr made seven catches for 166 yards and two second-half touchdowns that rallied the Giants to victory in their first game at Miami since 1996. “But we created our own mess, and we’re responsible for it”. Miller ran just 12 times.

At the moment, the Patriots are the No. 1 seed in the AFC, but they have not yet clinched a first-round bye.

“As far as I know, he’s completely healthy”, Campbell said.

After the game against the 49ers (4-9), the Bengals play at Denver in a game that will go a long way in determining the playoff seeding.

For most of the game the Dolphins played a well balanced offense but in the 2nd half the play calling left a little to be desired and Miami couldn’t find any cohesiveness outside of Tannehill and Landry. The Giants reportedly let go of Moore on Friday, Dec. 11, following an alleged fight with defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins on Thursday, Dec. 10. “Totally inexcusable. There is nothing that is OK with that”. “There is absolutely, there’s nothing that’s OK about that”.

The Dolphins, who honored the 50 greatest players in franchise history during a halftime ceremony, have not made the playoffs since 2008.

Coughlin admitted that Flowers’ ankle issue is probably something that might linger the rest of the year.

At 6-foot-3, Lippett has size that Miami lacks at cornerback but is still raw. Firmly stuck in the Giants’ four-man running back committee, Williams has at times shown an ability to be everything the Giants hoped he’d be when they drafted him in the fourth round past year, while other times he’s looked like an impatient and unsure runner who this season has yet to record more than 50 yards rushing.

The Dolphins who have had difficulty stopping tight ends this season will have their hands full with Gates on Sunday. After an incomplete pass, Landry got tangled up with Giants cornerback Trevin Wade and threw him to the ground, drawing a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty.
