NY opted to have Tebow begin his professional baseball career in the Instructional League, but he might not play for long with the season coming to an end. As noted in this very space, Tebow, who’s 29 years old and hasn’t played organized baseball since high school, will report to fall instructs to work on his fledgling yet aging baseball skills. So is Atlanta Braves vice chairman John Schuerholz, who acquired two-sport stars Bo Jackson, Deion Sanders and Brian Jordan earlier in his career and was on board with the team’s pursuit of Tebow.

During his August 30, scouting performance, the raw power Tebow possessed was his biggest thing that stood out. “Only one team – the New York Mets – was willing to let Tebow also do some television work”.

Brooks” spring training appearances raised money for his Touch “Em All Foundation; the Mets organization and individual players vowed to make donations, which were directed to children’s charities. But, we all know how that turned out, ” said Tebow with a self-deprecating laugh.

But 12 years ago, Tebow was a.494-hitting, all-county outfielder who loved hitting a baseball every bit as much as he loved leading a huddle. Tebow, playing sports again in Florida, probably rejuvenates the entire league. We understand most players don’t make it to the major leagues. Or, if you prefer, my problem is that the Mets didn’t negotiate his full commitment to baseball.

Tebow will attempt to make the major leagues as a corner outfielder.

Alderson: “I voiced a little skepticism about (Tebow) at the outset. but after due diligence and scouting on my part, and others, we felt it was a great opportunity for him and the Mets”.

However his career fizzled after spells with the New York Jets and the New England Patriots, before he was released by the Eagles in 2015.

Amid the negativity and resistance to Tebow’s being handed a uniform and given an opportunity to take his shot, the natural question is: Why?

Tebow is now working with the SEC Network but wanted to give baseball one more shot.

In a roundabout way, that same thinking applies to his new employers, the Mets.

Tebow will report to the Mets’ complex in Florida on September 18.

Hologram Tebow: How about a Tupac-style hologram pre-loaded with cliches and praise for Nick Saban that can assume Tebow’s place on the SEC Nation set while he plays baseball?
