Why the Seahawks should worry about the Panthers in Week 13

With a Sunday night showdown looming against the Carolina Panthers the Seahawks must now focus on righting the ship. With the loss, the Panthers fell back into the cellar in the NFC South.

The two teams haven’t met since the NFC Divisional playoffs, when the Panthers took a huge lead early and held on to unseat Seattle. They are each three games back of the Cowboys for the best record, but they at least remain in first in their respective divisions.

Carolina lost a heart breaker to Oakland by a mere 3 points after being down 24-7 at halftime, and has looked like they lost their identity along with CB Josh Norman in the offseason.

“Those are things that unfortunately we just didn’t do”.

The Giants are six-point underdogs, but they have covered three of the past four meetings and have reportedly been getting tips from Eli Manning’s brother Peyton this week on how to beat the Steelers. I think he was moving where he needed to move, but pressure is pressure. “Unfortunately we didn’t, so we have to battle uphill”, Rivera said.

This week’s analysis will be shorter because I’ll be directing you to a video of me talking about wagering on this week’s game with Mike Brenner and Peter Loshak of Sportsbook Review at the end of the article. “It’s an enormous impact, win or lose”.

PANTHERS Olsen had 7-131-1 receiving in Week 6 win over Seattle last season and 6-77-1 in playoff win over Seattle last season.

The Panthers’ struggles will continue against a Seahawks side, led by Russell Wilson, both of whom will get back on track after last week’s blip against Tampa Bay. “We’ve gotta go out and keep fighting”. Last week was last week. Offensively, though, you really have to wonder is Seattle is good enough.

Counting on Wilson to have two bad games in a row is likely a bad idea, as he is one of the league’s top performers at the position. “Another opposing team’s flag was in my stadium”. Seattle has been shaky against run, giving up 100.2 yards per game on ground. The regular season ends at San Francisco (1-10) on New Year’s Day. Center Justin Britt missed Week 12 with an ankle injury but he’s expected back.

“He got sacked six times”.

Those are minor changes compared to what the Panthers are going through. The Panthers have put both starting center Ryan Kahil and his backup, Gino Gradkowski, on injured reserve. This season they are 23 at minus-5. But it’s been four years – 2012- since Seattle finished the season 8-0 at home.

In a game that rivaled the ugliness of the team’s loss in LA and tie in the desert, the Seahawks suffered a 14-5 defeat at the hands of the Buccaneers. Their 4-7 record belies the fact of how good Carolina truly is when healthy. With health comes added elusiveness, which is perhaps Wilson’s greatest skill and also makes Seattle’s offense that much more hard to defend.

The Seahawks can still play D with anyone but the offense has been a riddle all season long they’ve failed to solve more often than not.

Panthers wide receivers coach Ricky Proehl played for Seattle from 1995-96. Probably something resembling their week 6 matchup in 2015 that featured a lot of offense, not much defense, and came down to a touchdown with less than a minute to play that gave Newton his first win against Russell Wilson. Carolina TE Greg Olsen leads National Football League tight ends with 790 receiving yards and ranks second with 58 receptions.
