Why this back injury could be worse than Romo’s last
Owner Jerry Jones and team executive vice president Stephen Jones have said Prescott will be the starter in Week 1’s NFC East showdown with the rival New York Giants, but Garrett, as of yet, hasn’t ruled out Romo.

“At the moment when you go down, you crunch so your back gets squished, I guess you could say”. You know that. You know what happened to Bledsoe and [Tom] Brady. But I’m pretty sure when he got here, he was like, I’m going to be the future of this franchise. With Romo, we’re talking about a guy who has played with fractures in his back before, a punctured lung, etc.
The reality is Romo being able to get healthy is a bigger question than his spot on the depth chart if he is able to get back on the field, but Jones leaving any wiggle room is at the very least interesting. Cowboys coach Jason Garrett spoke with him on the matter to discuss why the visit was a major distraction and wrong. The Northwestern product started his second preseason game and completed 59 percent of his passes for 122 yards, a touchdown and an interception.
Any later, and assuming Prescott’s played well but not well enough to completely usurp Romo’s place in the starting lineup, Romo could return in Week 9 or Week 10, when Dallas is at Cleveland and at Pittsburgh, respectively.
Prescott, who also has two rushing touchdowns, led a scoring drive in his first full possession against the Seahawks after Romo’s injury. In the following days, the rookie apologized to the team for his decision, though not publicly. Since 2011, the average passer rating for rookies is 78.8, which is well below average but still higher than the Cowboys’ team passer rating in 2015.
Visiting a marijuana store may not be the end of the world, especially as the country continues to be more progressive about it, but things are different in the NFL.
What’s more, the injury also gives the Cowboys a chance to see what they have in rookie quarterback Dak Prescott. “In respecting such American principles as freedom of religion and freedom of expression, we recognize the right of an individual to choose to participate, or not, in our celebration of the national anthem”.
“Right, as you say, it is what it is, a criticism, ” Dak told our Mike Fisher last week.
“When I saw him go down and his spine crunch forward, I was anxious for his health”, said former National Football League player John Michaels, who is also a Dallas-based pain and spine injury specialist. We witnessed last season where a rush-job like Matt Cassel can take a needy team.

For now: Can Rayne Dakota Prescott bus-drive the Cowboys to incremental success, to “holding down the fort, ” first against the Giants on September 11. and then we all concern ourselves with “what’s next” in logical order? “That’s players and that’s coaches”, Garrett said.
