Why This Real Madrid Star Rejected Jose Mourinho
Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane confirmed he received an offer from Manchester United in the transfer window and found it hard to turn down Jose Mourinho.

United are in third place in the Premier League table behind Chelsea and Manchester City. Especially this summer, as they had their best window ever.
Varane is a world class center back, and top tier central defenders are always in extremely high demand, and very short supply. Given how utterly nuts this transfer market was, perhaps the price would have even been higher.
Jose Mourinho signed Varane from Lens while in charge of Real Madrid, and the 23-year-old admits it was hard to turn down a reunion with the Portuguese.
However, Varane has now officially confirmed the reports that United wanted him, stating: “Of course it’s flattering”.
Speaking to Canal Plus, he said: “I chose to stay because that’s what I want and because I’m happy here”.
He indicated that Manchester United were indeed interested as he revealed that it was tough to reject an offer from Mourinho, but stressed that he feels happy at Real Madrid. It is not easy to say no to Jose Mourinho, but you have to weigh the pros and cons.
“But at the moment the club [Madrid] and I are in sync and I had no questions to ask”.
What that’ll be remains to be seen up until the teams are announced on Saturday morning, but we think one of these thee options could make up for the missing Argentine…

Jose Mourinho has recruited Raphael Varane at two giant clubs, but thus far he’s been unable to land him.
