Why was Vijay Mallya allowed to leave India, Cong asks govt
This is the third time in last one week that the former employees, who remained unpaid for months together before its Chairman Vijay Mallya grounded the airline due to paucity of funds, have shot off an open letter to pull the country’s attention towards their issues. He can be seen for 1 km away.

Former employees of Vijay Mallya’s defunct carrier Kingfisher Airlines have expressed pain over politicians “ignoring” their plight amid trading of allegations over Mallya leaving India. “Why was his passport not seized?”
Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad said, “Vijay Mallya is not a needle that he couldn’t be caught”.
The government responded by saying the Congress prepared a weak case against Mallya when it was in power.
Mallya, 60, is facing legal proceedings back in India for allegedly defaulting on loans worth over Rs 9,000 crores from various banks. Sources said, in its October 16, 2015 request to issue a lookout circular, CBI had said if Mallya tries to leave the country, he should be detained at the exit point.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday issued notice to Mallya on a plea by a consortium of 13 banks led by the SBI seeking his personal appearance before it along with his passport as it was told that he has already left the country. The department further pleaded the total disputed liability of Mallya with respect to service tax was to the tune of Rs 535 crore, though admitted liability was 56.06 crore. “I will come and clear the dues” on his social media account. “We are not after his blood”.
“In addition an aggregate of Rs 600 crore is lying deposited in the Karnataka High Court (since July, 2013) and a further sum of Rs 650 crore belonging to United Breweries Holdings has been deposited in the Karnataka High Court since early 2014, being sums realised from the sale proceeds received by United Breweries Holdings from the sale of shares in United Spirits to Diageo Plc in July, 2013”, he had said.

The apex court has sought Mallya’s response to the banks’ plea by March 30 which is the next date of hearing.
