A “heat dome” is building in the upper atmosphere over the nation’s midsection and will bring humid, 100-degree weather from Oklahoma City to Chicago by Thursday, pushing to the east by the weekend.

The Heat Advisory is valid from 1:00 p.m.to 8:00 p.m today.

Rain chance very limited to maybe a pop up, here and there. These temperatures and heat indices will persist through at least Friday. Only the Northwest will not feel the effects of the heat wave.

When combined with the humidity, heat indices both Monday and Tuesday will range from 105 to 108 degrees over much of Southwest Arkansas, North Louisiana and extreme Eastern Texas.

Skies will remain sunny for much of the week as temperatures climb to the mid-90s and then creep into the 100s by Wednesday.

Precautionary/preparedness actions: A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected.
