Recently the “It’s Not Unusual” singer has had to cancel concerts due to a “serious illness” in his family.
Tom married Linda in 1957, when they were both 16, and they remained together for almost six decades despite his well-publicised infidelities. They have one son, Mark, who now works as his father’s manager.
In his autobiography released a year ago, Jones revealed that his long-standing wife has had two previous cancer scares and is a heavy smoker.
The statement from Live Nation continued: “Sir Tom and his family have asked for privacy at this hard time and no further information is now available”.
Sir Tom previously praised his wife as the “most important thing in his life”, but had to apologise after saying Linda had “lost her spark”.

He also divulged the time when his wife lashed out at him at their Los Angeles home following a story about his affair with a Miss World. I’ve always looked at entertainers as, “Why is that person where he or she is”?
‘I’ve realised she’s had a depression since she was young, ‘ he said.
One of his reported long-term liaisons was with Mary Wilson of The Supremes, who published details of their tryst in her book, Dreamgirl: My Life As A Supreme.

He later said of Lady Linda: “She is an unbelievable woman”. She says, “I don’t look like that any more”‘.
