The estimated 25,000 acre Walker Fire that is burning approximately eight miles southwest of Idaho City experienced a few growth overnight, but is moving away from structures.

Residents in the areas of Macks Creek, Wolf Creek, and Pine Creek are still under an evacuation order. The U.S. Forest Service, along with the Clear Creek Fire Department, the Boise County’s Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Homeland Security are also helping to get the fire under control.

An incident command post is being set up Monday at the Idaho City airport. Two 20-person hand crews and two hot shot crews are working to contain it. There are also six engines on scene, one bulldozer and two single-enginge air tankers are expected to dump water later Sunday, Callihan said. Despite being located directly next to the fire, Idaho City’s air quality is considered green, or “good”.

Residents in the Mack Creek area were told to evacuate.

Travel is prohibited on Grimes Creek Road from Clear Creek Road to Centerville Road.
