Officials tell the Napa Valley Register the fire apparently started when an auto caught on fire on Highway 121. The blaze was reported around 2:30 p.m. off Highway 128 near Greaves Road and Lake Berryessa.

Evacuations have been ordered in the Cold Canyon area, including the Canyon Creek campground, according to Cal Fire.

Investigators have determined the cause of the fire was a vehicle accident. Additional evacuations are being ordered in the Mix Canyon area of Solano County. Crews are battling a fast-growing wildfire near Lake Berryessa, that has prompted evacuations and forced the closure of a nearby highway while growing to 700 acres.

Berlant said that drought conditions and gusty winds were contributing to the fire’s rapid spread.
