Fire chief Jeff Miller said this morning that no forest fires are burning in the immediate Butte area.

The Indiana Department of Emergency Management has issued an alert for An Air Quality Action Day for Saturday, August 15 in North Central Indiana.
There are a lot of fires burning throughout the region, and we’ve had some new starts in Montana, including several fires in the Bob Marshall Wilderness.
Some rain on Friday fell around the state’s biggest fire, which has burned almost 21 square miles in Glacier.
The DEM is predicting that air quality levels will be unsafe during the afternoon and evening hours.
Air quality in the Bitterroot Valley was even worse, listed at Very Unhealthy in some places, according to the Montana DEQ. Bullitt… Oldham… Clark… and Floyd counties, the forecast for air quality index to top the 100 mark goes out much further.
Cooler temperatures on Saturday helped some, but most fires remained active thanks to erratic winds and little moisture.
“It’s breathable, but it’s not ideal”, Lovick said.
Nevin agreed with her friend’s assessment that conditions were not “ideal”.

Lewistown, Malta, Billings and Birney all reported “healthy” air quality.
