Will anyone win the biggest Powerball pot to date?

If there’s no victor, the prize is projected to top $1.3 billion in Wednesday’s drawing.

Saturday night’s winning Powerball numbers are 32-16-19-57-34.

“I don’t ever normally buy them (lottery tickets)”, said Letchworth.

Employees at a Tyler convenience store said there weren’t quite as many people coming in Saturday as there were Friday, but people who did buy their tickets Saturday, had big plans for what to do with the winnings.

The South Dakota Lottery reminds players to please play responsibly – it only takes one ticket to win the jackpot. The odds of nailing it are around 1 in 292 million.

Denton said the jackpot prize started at $40 million in November, and grew every time there wasn’t a victor.

Officials with the Multi-State Lottery Association, which runs the Powerball game, estimate about 75 per cent of the possible number combinations will be bought for Saturday night’s drawing. “But, you just can’t help but get a ticket now”, Frank Brewer said.

Texas state lottery spokeswoman Kelly Cripe said earlier in the day that the jackpot reached $949.8 million, the largest lottery prize in history.

“I’m going insane! I can’t take it anymore!” she said, burying her face in her hands but giggling uncontrollably as she turned to a line of customers.

Falsetta’s Market on Washtenaw Avenue in Ann Arbor, Michigan, has seen new ticket buyers coming out of the woodworks since the jackpot soared to an all-time record high.

Some players feel they improve their chance of winning by pooling their money with co-workers, with a promise to split the winnings. Some said they were prompted by family, friends or news reports about the jackpot.

“Yeah, I’ve got the winning tickets right here”, patron Richard Walker said.

Though the frenzy surrounding large jackpots can be exciting, people who win many millions of dollars will have to give thought to managing unwieldy sums of money.
