Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar on Saturday requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to talk about some of the sportspersons, who are striving to bring laurels for the country at the ongoing Rio Olympics, in his speech on 70th Independence Day.

Several posts and messages seeking suggestions for the speech has been put up on government websites and social media.

All arrangements have been made in and around the venue where a number of important political leaders, top officials and school children will be present to participate in a function to mark the 70th Independence Day of the country. Besides securing the Red Fort and its environs, security has also been stepped up all across the capital, in particular shopping areas, malls and places where people gather in large numbers.
