Will ensure poor man’s food plate doesn’t become costly: PM Modi

Modi said unlike past governments, he has stayed away from populist measures and instead relied on empowerment. He said his government preferred substance over symbolism and stressed that “transparent, accountable and good governance” was his government’s motto. Stating that his government’s motto was transparent and accountable good governance, he said steps are being taken with a view to “reform, perform and transform”.

Modi said, “I will do all it takes to ensure that the poor man’s food plate does not become expensive”.

“In the past government, inflation rate had crossed 10 per cent”.

“We have made a lot of efforts to contain price rise”, he said, adding he will leave no stone unturned to live up to expectations of people in controlling prices.

“If at all Olympics had a medal for the most boring public speech then Prime Minister Narendra Modi would have received gold”, Delhi Culture Minister Kapil Mishra said. “We want to increase to quantum jump”, he said, adding, laying of transmission lines, to transport electricity from production sites to consumption centres, has been expedited to 50,000 km per year from previous 30,000-35,000 km. Remembering Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel, Pandit Nehruand other countless freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the nation, Prime Minister Modi said, “It is our responsibility to convert our Swaraj into Suraaj, which cannot be done without sacrifice, discipline and staunch resolution 7”.
