Marcus Rashford scored a stoppage-time victor as Manchester United broke Hull City’s resistance at the death to win 1-0 at the KCOM Stadium on Saturday and keep Jose Mourinho’s winning record alive at his new club.

While United’s victory extended their 100 per cent winning start to the campaign ahead of next month’s derby against Manchester City at Old Trafford, Hull dropped points for the first time this season under Phelan.
“So I think it’s very good for him to be on the pitch for 90 minutes for the U21 squad”.
Leicester and Arsenal, the top two teams last season, racked up their first wins on the third attempts, and their star attackers were back on the scoresheet. “They were waiting to give everything and we are playing different football now”.

Rashford, who has been made to wait for his opportunity by Mourinho, added zip and invention to United’s staid attack after being brought on and had already drawn a fine save from Jakupovic before he grabbed his late goal. “To keep a clean sheet is very important to increase our confidence in the work we are doing”.
The Belgium midfielder can be seen pointing at the fan and then helping her while most of the other United players were celebrating with Rashford.
Despite those problems, Phelan led the club to wins over Leicester City and Swansea City in their opening two league fixtures, but the former United assistant knows he must add fresh blood to his squad before their next game at Burnley on September 10.
“We know matches like that can help us win championships”.
“To be honest, towards the end I thought it wasn’t going to be our day”, he said.
“We created a lot of chances and kept a clean sheet. We need to get cracking”.
Phelan has worked wonders as caretaker boss but believes events over the coming days could shape Hull’s season.
“If you arrive at the club and the players are closed, it is hard to change, but the players were open”.
