Will LG Samsung Electronics Purchase LCD Panels from LG Display?

In case you remember, Samsung introduced a proprietary Quantum Dot technology this year. The company is promising “best picture quality – ever”, managing to spark great interest, with the new TV line being one of the most interesting things to see during this year’s CES.

The Verge reported that the QLED series will be accessible in three models: the Q9, Q8, and Q7. There’s also the new QLED tech from Samsung and ULED from Hisense, which are essentially those brands’ answer to OLED.

I can’t promise those days are over, but if CES is any indication, the gimmicks have mostly been swept away in favor of actual, tangible TV advancements.

Samsung has also improved color reproduction with the new series, as QLED TVs handle DCI-P3 accurately, reproducing “100 percent color volume”.

A new metal shell has been added around the dots, which allows for brighter picture without colour bleed, and a wider colour gamut.

“After just one year of availability, the Family Hub has transformed the concept of the connected kitchen by enabling users to order and manage grocery shopping, connect with family and friends, and access entertainment right from the comfort of their kitchen”, said Byung-Sam Seo, president of home appliances at Samsung Electronics, in a statement. Samsung Electronics announced that it will focus on luminescent QLED TV that produces light by itself without backlight to Quantum-Dot.

Samsung, which sells 46.4% of all Ultra HD TVs sold in the United States, hopes that this, as well as new design features, will reduce the number of cables needed. OLED is self-light-emitting whereas QLED is not, so they are obviously two different display types. No, not exactly. Videophiles who follow TV development may have been hoping for an emissive, non-organic alternative to OLED TVs, which can actually turn off each individual pixel to allow for ideal black levels. This, in turn, ensures the most accurate depiction of colors even at the QLED TV’s peak luminance that ranges between 1,500 and 2,000 nits.

Samsung, LG, Sony and several others teased products that will be rolled out to consumers as CES 2017 starts, which cover the obvious – laptops, cell phones and televisions – but include new robotic assistants, improvements to the smart home and newly-“smart” devices such as mirrors and brushes. The TVs also feature a “No-gap wall-mount”, which makes it easy to affix the TV flush against the wall. This means, when mounted on the wall, it will look more like an art piece than a television.

LG also announced its latest TVs would support four HDR formats – including Hybrid Log-Gamma jointly developed by the BBC and the Japanese broadcaster NHK.

Baxter said the company will release information about the root cause of its exploding battery issue “very soon”.
