Unveiling the Strategic Defence and Security Review (SDSR) to MPs, Mr Cameron said IS – also known as Isil, Isis or Daesh – was “not some remote problem thousands of miles away”.
On Thursday he will present his blueprint for Britain’s part in the war on ISIS in response to the findings of the influential Commons Foreign Affairs Committee, which warned against military involvement until there was an worldwide strategy to end the conflict.
It is understood that the first bombing raids against Islamic State would begin within hours of a “yes” vote. France will not launch air strikes from the base, however.
He claims his plan aims to respond to a variety of threats, including the rise of the Islamic State group, the crisis in Ukraine, and cyber attacks, but he also justifies it in the foreward of the review, as a way to “safeguard our prosperity”.
Mr Hollande, who will meet the American, Russian and German leaders in the coming days, said Britain and France had a “joint obligation” to strike at the terror group.
The British government has already been seeking to convince the parliament to vote in favor of joining airstrike campaign in Syria.
“Later this week I will set out in parliament our comprehensive strategy for tackling ISIL”.
PARIS -French jets from the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier struck Islamic State targets in Iraq on Monday while Britain offered France the use of an air base in Cyprus to hit the militants behind the Paris attacks. “Understandably they want to be sure that there is a political track to this as well”, he told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme.
“My understanding is he is not a pacifist and that means that it is conceivable”, Eagle said. “We are investing in a range of very important capabilities, which will make us a stronger ally for the USA and our other North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies”, he said.
“Under this new operation, up to 10,000 military personnel will be available to support the police”, he said.
There will be a 10-year extension to the operational lifespan of the RAF’s Typhoon jets and upgrade work to give them ground attack capabilities – effectively adding two additional frontline squadrons.
On Sunday evening, French police issued a photograph of one of the suicide bombers thought to have killed himself outside the Stade de France – one of the sites of the Paris attacks that killed 130.
Mr Cameron paid tribute to the “courage of the French people” following the visit.
Earlier, the two leaders had laid a wreath at the Bataclan concert venue in Paris where attackers killed 90 people on November 13.

The British prime minister said the SDSR “sends out a clear message that Britain is an engaged nation with global reach and global influence, not for national vanity but for reasons of clear-sighted national interest”.
