The Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government has embarked on a major public relations to highlight its achievements on the occasion of completing two years in office.

Prime Minister Modi said that in the last two years he has taken several steps to curb corruption and was all for scrutiny of his and his Government’s performance.

“To meet the growing aspirations of the people, it is important that the NEC introspects and assesses the extent to which it has been able to achieve its objectives”, he said, adding it needs to be developed as a “state-of-the-art resource centre for the north eastern states with necessary resources, knowledge and skills”.

Paswan said Modi came from a poor family and the government was oriented towards welfare of the poor. The Prime Minister also spoke about how the government had done away with the requirement of interview for Class III and IV government jobs. “Earlier governments have done big things, they did it for big people, they reaped big benefits out of it. Do I have to commit such sin?” “We have received requests for exchange for information from Indian authorities”, he told reporters here.

“The problem is not a new mediator, we are past the time of needing a mediator”.

He said the government had saved leakage of Rs.15,000 crore in LPG subsidy, identified over 1.62 crore fake ration cards and checked other malpractices such as appointment of fake teachers.

“They would say we have brought in this law and that law. We have repealed them all”, he said.

He contended that if Ethanol production is encouraged, it would create a win-win situation for all stakeholders except a few who control the petrol-diesel lobby.

“I want to increase it further (the limit to mix Ethanol in fuel)”, the Prime Minister said, adding that it will help the farmers earn more and will be environment friendly.
