Will Panthers home game be affected by Charlotte unrest?

North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory declared a state of emergency during Wednesday night’s rioting, sparked after Keith Scott, 43, was shot dead the previous day by a black police officer outside a Charlotte apartment complex.

Protesters in Charlotte who spilled onto an interstate highway are being pushed back by police officers in riot gear. One man was left seriously injured and some business were damaged during the two nights of unrest and chaos in the city. Firefighters rushed in to pull the man to a waiting ambulance.

“We are in contact with government officials, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and the NFL”, Morrison said.

On if Sunday’s game should be played as scheduled: “This game absolutely should be played Sunday”.

For now, the game will go on as scheduled at 1 p.m. Sunday at Bank of America Stadium. “But like I just said, what’s going on right now is not the way to fix the problem”. The Vikings – minus star running back Adrian Peterson – put their unblemished record on the line when they travel to face the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. NASCAR closed its downtown officers on Thursday along with Bank of America, which is headquartered in the city.

Davis, who is African-American and who has also won the NFL’s highest award for community service, said he had talked to his two sons about the importance of listening to the police even though he struggles some personally with some of the police shootings around the country.

Meanwhile, basketball icon Michael Jordan, one of the most influential sports figures in the history of North Carolina and owner of the Charlotte Hornets, called for the restoration of peace. It’s the way they’re being treated after they’re happening. I know what area they’re in.

Coach John Fox said the Bears are monitoring Jeffery and it “didn’t go as well from yesterday to today”. I know it’s different to a degree, but playing the game helped to bring some normalcy.

Carolina reached the Super Bowl last season thanks to dynamic quarterback Cam Newton but were beaten by the Denver Broncos. “I am not happy with how justice has been dealt with over the years, the state of oppression in our community”.

Ironically, and in part thanks to Kaepernick’s decision to start the wave, National Football League games are effective mediums for peaceful – key word, “peaceful” – protests. From when Cam (Newton) rolled his vehicle and had his accident, when my house burned down, when my brother passed, the way the community gave us support, I mean -that’s Charlotte.

“My big thing is always holding people accountable, no matter what the race is, no matter what the gender is, no matter what the age is”, Newton said. “I look at football as a way to bring people together”.

“We all have to be held accountable and when is enough enough”, Newton said.
