Will Samsung’s “Waffle” Make You Hungry ?
It’s now available in beta on Android, but may come to other platforms if it gains traction.

Samsung has introduced a new app from its C-Lab offshoot, which enables users to create musical scores simply by humming a tune into the smartphone’s microphone.
Samsung has announced Hum On! and Waffle, two new apps that are part of its C-Lab, which it describes as “an innovation program that helps its employees nurture their own creative business ideas”.
The grids can also grow infinitely, expanding in every direction and becoming nearly like “a communal graffiti wall”, according to Samsung.
To illustrate, if you post a birthday party image, your friends will be able to add their own videos and photos which are displayed in a waffle-like grid. The company emphasises the role of its S-Pen stylus in doodle creation, letting users create intricate illustrations.
However, tech types immediately pointed out some possible pitfalls, including the classic chicken-and-egg conundrum facing all new social networks: what if nobody contributes other waffle-bits, leaving you essentially waffle-less? Samsung uses the example of a travel enthusiast who begins her time with the app by uploading a photo of herself on a trip to Tokyo. Moreover, you can add images and doodles to existing pictures or messages, which in turn creates a collaborative story or forum. Privacy restrictions around posting on another user’s grid also remain vague, an issue Samsung will need to clarify before any launch. Details are still scant on how Waffle users will build their profile, meet friends and connect with followers.

However, Samsung prefers to call it a platform instead of a social media network. The name instantly makes one hungry but let’s see why the app makes you even hungrier.
