Kanye West has been given an open slot of stage time to do whatever it is that he wants, which will be … something.

Britney Spears has been sharing pieces of herself in Las Vegas on the regular since 2013, but nothing compares to the MTV Video Music Awards.
All in all, it seems as if MTV is planning to pull out all of the stops at this year’s VMAs, and they’re doing a pretty good job keep their surprise appearances and performances a secret.
In true Beyonce fashion, most of us won’t know if she’s performing until she steps onto the stage, but the Los Angeles Times has reported that “Beyoncé has been in top-secret rehearsals” getting ready for the show.
West has had even more history with the awards show: He famously jumped onstage and stole Taylor Swift’s microphone at the 2009 show and a year ago gave an 11-minute speech onstage – after being introduced by Swift – and announced he was going to run for president in 2020.
The women will compete against Drake’s Hotline Bling, Justin Bieber’s Sorry and West’s controversial video Famous, which features nude waxworks of himself and a host of celebrities including his wife Kim Kardashian West, Donald Trump and Taylor Swift.
“I still get very nervous [about the awards]”.
The VMAs will air live on MTV at 9 p.m.
In addition to Beyonce and RiRi performances, Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande will team up to perform “Side to Side” and Britney Spears and G-Eazy will perform their duet, “Make Me”.
The Barbadian singer, 28, is being presented with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, MTV’s equivalent of a lifetime achievement honour.

Recent Olympic gold medallists, swimmer Michael Phelps and USA gymnasts Simone Biles, Aly Raisman, Gabby Douglas, Laurie Hernandez and Madison Kocian are also expected to hand out awards. Among her nods include Best Female Video for “Hold Up” and Video of the Year for “Formation”. The music video, which shows him looking frail in bed with bandaged eyes, was released just days before the icon’s January 10 death.
