The “Suicide Squad” star offered some harsh words for GOP nominee Donald Trump during a press stop in Dubai on Sunday.
Smith, who has pointed out “the insanity” of the 2016 presidential race on several occasions, mentions how Donald Trump actually serves to be important for his country to recognise the problem with racism.
In turn, Smith said he wants to show that not all Americans share Trump’s views, and sees the film industry as a good lens to demonstrate this. “We get to hear it, we get to know who people are and now we get to cleanse it out of our country”.
“The Middle East can’t allow Fox News to be the arbiter of the imagery, you know”, Smith said. Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has called for an immediate ban on all Muslims entering the United States, claiming this would make America safer.
Smith has been vocal about social and political issues in the past, most recently the lack of diversity at this past year’s Oscars. To them we say only this: “Not here, not ever”, he said. The film is the next step in the DC Comics and Warner Bros. expanded universe and cost around $175 million to produce.
