Will The Controversies Boost Udta Punjab At The Boxoffice?
“So much has happened with the film, we have put in so much hardwork, it’s been such a hard journey, today (Friday) is going to be the day for me to just be grateful that I got the opportunity to play this character and I thank Shahid because he had sent me the script”, Alia said.

The film’s release was beset with trouble after the Central Board of Film Certification first suggested 89 cuts, but later the Revising Committee asked for 13 cuts. Also Anurag Kashyap said on the leakage of the movie that it was all a matter of shame that movies got leaked in India before its release.
It allowed the petitioner to approach the Punjab and Haryana High Court with its prayer.
“The film had a slow start but picked up in the afternoon and evening shows”.
There’s a moment in Udta Punjab when one of the film’s primary characters, an otherwise easygoing young cop, suddenly decides he can no longer be a willing cog-inthe- wheel of the awful drug chariot rolling through the state, crushing people in plain sight.
“The opening has been around 50 per cent”.
Both Thadani and Rathi feel today is the most crucial day for “Udta Punjab”. Moreover, Diljit Dosanjh’s popularity in the North can further help the film even more.
The Abhishek Chaubey-directed movie talks about the issue of substance abuse in the state of Punjab through the stories of a high-on-drugs rock star (Shahid Kapoor), a migrant (Alia Bhatt), a doctor (Kareena Kapoor Khan) and a policeman (Diljit Dosanjh). The diva has won the hearts of the fans and critics alike by delivering powerful performances in films like “Highway” and “2 States”.
“We support the demand for an inquiry into the piracy of film Udta Punjab and we consider it an abominable and shameful act. I don’t think the film will pick up in the single screens”, Desai said. “The film must be seen”.
He told reporters: “My well wishes are with the makers and the producers of “Udta Punjab”.

“People say these things but I don’t know if I my fanbase I have got”. The film is co-produced by Phanton Films and Balaji Motion Pictures.
