Will Trump campaign’s shake-up salvage bid?

“There must be one person in charge”, said Roger Stone, a longtime confidante of both Manafort and Trump.

Trump, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, described Lewandowski as a “good man” who helped “a small, beautiful, well-unified campaign” during the primary season.

Lewandowski was sacked in part because Trump’s children questioned his leadership of the campaign.

The communications efforts varied wildly – from the Iran nuclear deal to the economy to attacks on general election rival Hillary Clinton – suggesting that, more than delivering a focused policy message, the Trump campaign’s goal was to erase any doubts that it was shifting gears into a more active phase. “We have tremendous people, we have tremendous talent”, he was quoted as saying. “I have profiled tons of Washington insiders, that is Trump, he has done a very good job at positioning himself as this outsider, yet he is someone who has built this incredible real estate empire through deals that he’s gotten with politicians”.

Corey has been a controversial figure throughout the Trump campaign and reportedly had a poor relationship with Trump’s advisers and his family. “I’ve spent much less money than her, and the result so far is the same”.

Trump was in New York City on Tuesday night for a fundraiser attended by top GOP donors, including businessmen Woody Johnson, Carl Icahn, Bo Dietle and Anthony Scaramucci, as well as Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus.

He said he told Trump on Monday “it’s been an honor and a privilege” to work for him.

Democrats on Monday argued, “Corey Lewandowski is not the problem, it’s Donald Trump”.

“I have no regrets”, Mr Lewandowski told CNN, just hours after he was escorted out of Mr Trump’s Manhattan campaign headquarters.

The practice is something Trump says he would consider requiring in the White House, raising concerns about government transparency and freedom of information laws.

Neither Trump nor his party saw an immediate fundraising boost last month, even though he emerged victorious on May 4 after a primary contest once crowded with 16 opponents. “It’s my fourth American presidential; if you’ve been here before, you know falling on the sword is what you do if you mess up”, Caputo said. “I think the campaign, for lack of a better word, outgrew Corey”. Neither the rich political action committees (PAC) dedicated to stop Mr. Trump nor the “Never Trump” campaign could blunt his momentum. Lewandowski had been with the Republican presidential candidate since the beginning of his campaign.

Donors, he said, are waiting to see a less confrontational, more inclusive and more substantive Trump.

Trump still may have several hurdles to cross before convincing deep-pocketed donors to write the kind of checks that would make him competitive with Clinton’s campaign bank account.

It’s not just Trump who is protected by his campaign’s confidentiality agreement. Yet every time Trump uses one of his planes to drop in on hangars in swing states, his official campaign will be funneling dollars back to a Trump-backed entity.
