The couple also met Sunita Jaiswal, a survivor of domestic abuse who, thanks to the support of a charity called the Azad Foundation, has turned her life around. The duke and duchess brought Prince George with them on their 2014 tour of Australia but left George and his sister at home in the United Kingdom, where they are being looked after by their nanny and Kate’s parents, Carole and Mike Middleton.
Kate Middleton changed into a £75 pink embroidered smock dress from Topshop, as she and Prince William visited an animal sanctuary at the Centre for Wildlife and Conservation, in Kaziranga.
The Duke and Duchess continued their day by meeting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a private lunchtime meeting at Hyderabad House, New Delhi.
While visiting the 185-square-mile park, Wills and Kate learned about the successfully growing rhino population as well as the efforts being taken to curb poaching. While meeting with her new animal friends, Kate donned a flowing long-sleeved dress that was decorated with pink flowers and a black design around the hem and on the sleeves.
The British royal couple had a lunch time meeting with the Indian premier before jetting off to Assam.
V.S. Bhaskar, a top Assam state government official, said the royal couple saw rhinos, wild boars, buffalos, hog deer and a variety of birds.
The royal couple’s day was meant to draw attention to the plight of endangered animals, including the rare, one-horned rhinos.
A highlight of the couple’s tour will surely be the safari they were taken on through the park, during which they gazed at rhinos and elephants at a safe distance using binoculars.
Prince William asked the forest rangers about the conservation challenges they face, he said.
For his part, Prince William said they are happy that their two kids have established a good relationship with Queen Elizabeth.
“When they’re not here, they’re at the railway station”, he said.
The visit coincides with the Bohag Bihu festival, the celebration of the Assamese new year.

This is their first royal tour in two years and they have chosen to leave children George and Charlotte at home.
