Wilmer Flores Now Sheds Tears of Joy
New York Mets shortstop Wilmer Flores has run the gamut of emotions in a two-day span, crying on the field Wednesday after he thought he had been traded before turning those tears to thunderous cheers 48 hours later. He held the Nationals scoreless until a game-tying RBI single from Yunel Escobar with two outs in the eighth, which turned out to be his final batter of the night.

Well, things are going better for him on Friday night.
After sitting out the team’s game Thursday, Flores returned to the field Friday against the division-rival Washington Nationals.

Flores received multiple ovations throughout the game, starting with his diving stop on a grounder during the first inning and continuing during his first at-bat of the game in the second. Flores belted a walk-off homer in the 12th inning to cap a 2-1 victory for the Mets, who try to make it two straight wins over the visiting Washington Nationals on Saturday. He got another standing ovation after driving in a run in the fourth inning. It was the first game-ending home run for Flores, who has played in the big-leagues since 2013.
