Wilshere move ´a step into the unknown´ – Howe

England midfielder Jack Wilshere will seek to reignite his career away from Arsenal after agreeing a season-long loan move to Bournemouth.

The Cherries were accompanied by Premier League rivals Crystal Palace and Serie A giants AC Milan in submitting a proposal to acquire Wilshere, and it would be the south coast club who prevailed.

Wilshere, who is not part of Sam Allardyce’s first England squad, could make his Bournemouth debut after the worldwide break at home to West Bromwich Albion on September 10.

Roma have made a late bid to sign Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere on loan, according to Sky sources.

Wilshere only managed three appearances for Arsenal last season after fracturing his left fibula, while a string of injuries have limited the 24-year-old to just 80 Premier League starts in eight years.

It is believed that Watford, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, Sporting Lisbon and Benfica all want to take the injury-prone midfielder on loan this season.

With the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Santi Cazorla, Granit Xhaka, Francis Coquelin, and Mohamed Elneny all vying for a spot in the Arsenal midfield, it’s clear to see that Wilshere was not going to be a regular for Arsene Wenger.

“We were contacted and asked, ‘would we be interested?’ We said yes and threw our hat in the ring but the player chose to go to Bournemouth, I think one of his best mates plays there”.

As with Wilshere, winger Gnabry plays in a position in which Arsenal have considerable strength in depth, and the Bundesliga club’s director of football Frank Baumann on Tuesday spoke of his confidence he would arrive.

He will now hope a spell under Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe can produce similar results. “It’s a big thing for us”.

“I have no doubt that Jack would have sat down with the gaffer after the first few games of the season – as many of us do – and it’s clear that Wenger hasn’t given him the answers he wanted”. I am looking forward to working hard every day with the coaching staff and my new teammates to help the club achieve success on the pitch.
