Wilson, Seahawks offense struggle against Bears

This is no surprise but they have probably been better than expected still. Wilson threw two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but he also turned the ball over twice, with a pick-six ending a potential game-tying drive and a fumble cementing the loss. But then rookie Austin Calitro played very well. The Bears signed him to a three-year, $42 million deal in March. Trubisky played arguably his best football in the first quarter, when he thoroughly outplayed Seattle’s Russell Wilson, posting a quarterback rating of 131.0. “There was a couple plays when we ran routes (and) we’re trying to get the ball well down the field and (Bears defenders) are sitting back waiting… and (receivers) get covered up”. “But it feels really good to win”. “We took it over the top”. Wilson tried to rally the Seahawks but threw a costly pick-six to Bears cornerback Prince Amukamara, who stepped in front of a short pass and ran 49 yards for a score with 6:37 remaining in the game. It was his first interception since 2015 with the New York Giants.

Seattle fell into a deeper hole on the following possession when Wilson was stripped by Danny Trevathan.

The Chicago Bears are off to a.500 start through two regular season games this season. I’m excited for this offense to continue figuring out how we build this identity.

Seattle returns to action next Sunday when it plays host to the Dallas Cowboys at 1:25 p.m. on the official home of the Seahawks, Q13 FOX.

“We’re still a work in progress, ” coach Pete Carroll said.

Seattle’s six sacks allowed brings the two-week total to 12.

But Wilson focused more on the two TDs Seattle scored in the fourth quarter, though the last one came in the closing seconds.

Quotable: “I can’t remember the time I’ve seen a defense play that complete from whistle-to-whistle from first quarter to the fourth quarter”.

“I felt that we should make more plays against him”, Clark told PFW.

“I think just his trust in this system has grown the most”, the coach said. Trubisky has yet to master that important trait, one that often makes a quarterback stand out among his peers. “I felt like their defence beat us”.

So far, Trubisky pales in comparison to the son of former Cubs pitcher Pat Mahomes, who leads the NFL with 10 TD passes (zero interceptions) and is second with a 143.3 passer rating and an average of 10.6 yards per pass. Trubisky’s passer rating is 80.0, which is 24th in the league. On throws where Carr holds the ball for 2.5 seconds or less he is 42 for 50 (84 percent) with four interceptions and a 74.3 passer rating.

It’s a team game but Clark wasn’t willing to give Trubisky credit for the victory, instead he gave those praises to the Bears defense. His attitude was great, and he didn’t worry about anything. He didn’t worry about anything. Miller’s fashion choice was in both good humor and support for the Bears’ young quarterback.

Seahawks defensive tackle Quinton Jefferson and offensive tackle Duane Brown stayed off the field during the national anthem, something they did in the opener and preseason. “Listen, we have to be nasty, ferocious”, Bears defensive lineman Akiem Hicks said. So far, the jury is still out on whether Ryan Pace picked the best quarterback available at that time, given Trubisky’s play.
