Wilson will be able to play vs. Rams despite injury

Wilson was injured in the third quarter of Sunday’s 12-10 win over the Miami Dolphins when defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh sacked him and stepped on his right ankle. “He’s walking around and he’s practicing on Wednesday”, Carroll said.

RENTON Russell Wilson is practicing on Wednesday and starting on Sunday at Los Angeles.

“I’ve seen enough film where I’ve seen him have drives at the end of a game like the Atlanta game in 2013”, Gase said Monday.

If it’s any indication, a tweet from Wilson seemed to show him in good spirits Monday morning.

A few hours later, Carroll was more confident that Wilson will be able to play through the injury, although he is likely to be limited in practices leading into the matchup in Los Angeles.

Wilson has not missed a game during his career. Carroll said both X-rays and an MRI came back clear, but there is some swelling.

If Wilson can’t play in the NFC West opener, the Seahawks would go with backup Trevone Boykin. There’s no question in his mind he’s not playing. “I want to go outside and catch some more balls”.

“Well, for people that think negatively about it, they would be surprised”, Carroll said, adding “sprained” is how to best describe the injury. Rawls was in for 22 snaps and had 12 rushes for 32 yards.

“His attitude’s just always been the same”.

“You know, just taking it one shot at a time”.

Added running back Thomas Rawls: “I was never really anxious about it. Russell’s a fighter, and he’s going to fight to the end”.

Rookie Trevone Boykin is now the only other quarterback on the active roster. And like I said, I think last night, he nearly welcomed the challenge and had an attitude about, ‘Ok, here we go.

Nevertheless, Wilson may have to adapt to limited mobility in the short-term depending on how quickly his ankle recovers from after being stomped on by a 305-pound defensive tackle.

NOTES: Carroll was pleased with the returns of TE Jimmy Graham and RB Thomas Rawls, completing their recoveries from major injuries last season.

Stills, who finished with one reception for 16 yard, continues to look for the silver lining in a play that may have cost the Dolphins a huge upset. “We got him out there, got him started, and now we’ll be able to get a lot more play time from him.”.
