Win over Rodgers, Packers could be turning point for Bears

The highlight of the night for Green Bay turned out to be the return of Brett Favre, whose name and No. 4 was unveiled at halftime next to the team’s other retired numbers. It also saw a special appearance by Hall-of-Fame quarterback Bart Starr, who’s battled serious health problems, and an emotional embrace between Favre and Starr. Games between these two teams had been dominated by the Packers recently, but the Bears got some revenge here.

“The reality is we’re not that far off”, McCarthy said.

“(This) was more than likely his last time to be here. All five of their remaining games are winnable. And the Bears’ defense was able to hold the Packers to a mere 13 points. The wide receiver, however, was knocked off his route by safety Chris Prosinski, and cornerback Tracy Porter grabbed the interception. As he was being hauled down, Rodgers threw into the corner of the end zone to receiver James Jones, but Porter knocked the ball away.

The Packers welcome their second straight Thursday Night football game against the Detroit Lions. However, the drive ended with a fourth-down incompletion from the Chicago 8-yard line.

Quarterback Jay Cutler has noticed the vast improvement, especially after the defense gave up just one TD in Thursday night’s 17-13 win over the Packers at Lambeau Field. “I’m waiting to get it back in a couple of fingers, but it’s OK in the first three”.

In his first year in Chicago, coach John Fox has instilled confidence in his team that it can hang tough in close games. “I certainly thank God for giving me the opportunity to play the game for so long and in the best place to play football”.

“At first when they scored, our sideline was a little … and then I came to the sideline after the return, it was up”, Thompson said. “He is the first coordinator that I’ve had that I can really understand as far as what he is trying to do with the game plan. There are a lot of variables that go into being successful each week”. Marquess Wilson had another strong performance (44 yards) in his 58 snaps. They did most of their work on short passes that they turned into big gains. “We have to do a better job of getting open”.

As each week passes, the window grows narrower for the Packers to get their 23rd-ranked pass offense back on track.

– Three Bears: Jay Cutler too hot.

In contrast, the Bears left Lambeau Field one year ago were in utter disarray, folding on each other.

But for once, that was the end of Green Bay’s scoring. Cutler cashed in on Chicago’s next drive by finding Zach Miller for a 3-yard touchdown pass that tied it at 7 with 6:03 left in the half. “I don’t even remember the last time that we left this stadium, honestly”, Cutler said. “If you could bottle it, I wouldn’t be standing here talking to you, that’s for sure”, Packers coach Mike McCarthy told reporters about the differences in his team week-to-week.

The offense again looked lost and delirious in Thursday night’s 17-13 loss to the Chicago Bears.
