Win strengthens our belief, says Arsenal coach Wenger
The Gunners secured a crucial victory over City thanks to the first-half goals of Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud to leave their rivals fours points away in the Premier League table, while remaining in second place just two points behind leaders Leicester City.

While Wenger was wary of declaring his team title favourites, he acknowledged that victory over City will galvanise conviction that Arsenal can end their 12-year wait for the Premier League title.
“I tried to give my best and we won the game, so we take the three points and that’s the most important thing”. “So for a guy that could not prepare or work well he has done well physically”. All my team-mates help me so I can play my own game. The English forward celebrated his first league goal since he scored in the 5-2 win over the Foxes in September.
Manchester City defender Bacary Sagna says the loss against his former team and title contenders, Arsenal is hard to take.
“We need to communicate a bit more, to focus a bit more and to stick together as team a bit more and I think it will be okay”.
But the Gunners, despite all our injuries, still managed to win through against Man City, and Wenger revealed after the game that we can’t expect to see Alexis back at any point over the busy festive period.
“I had a good chat with him before the England-France game [after the Paris attacks]”. You can see in these games it comes out. And – can we keep it to ourselves? – he assured me that Arsenal are really in the hunt for the Premiership this season.
Ozil set up both goals in another commanding performance that had the home fans purring.
“This season is so different because they’re beating the big teams, which is a massive bonus”.
“That is our thoughts and that is why we implement them into games sometimes”.
“It was planned for him to be on the bench for City”.

“Tracking back is not his forte anymore and was never actually his forte”, the Frenchman added. “I thought that he was going to play as a 10 and Silva wide and Delph inside”. They’ve struggled with that over the last few seasons. “At home, you can get by but he has to play high”, he said.
