Wind chill advisory starts at midnight; chills down to 25 below possible

Temperatures will fall to the teens early today and stay in the teens all day.

There is a light at the end of the freezing tunnel, however. The NWS said winter storm warnings and advisories remain in effect in those areas. Low around 23. South wind around 9 miles per hour. “And also they’ve got advisories up through the northeast”.

Sunday night: A 50 percent chance of snow, low around 15. However, the possibility of milder temperatures means a wintry mix of snow and rain is possible.

A bit further inland, the lower Hudson Valley, northern New Jersey, and much of CT are expected to have temperatures in the single digits and wind chills in the -25 to -30 degree range. Wind chills will bring the lows down to 20 to 30 below zero overnight. So as this system moves in, there will be a chance of snow for parts of the area first. Wind chill values as low as -17.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 42.

The arctic blast will hang over the Island on Sunday-meaning Valentine’s Day revelers will have to bundle up to enjoy the festivities.

Monday: A 20 percent chance of snow, high near 31.

Saturday: A slight chance of snow showers after 4pm. Cloudy, with a high near 31.

Snow should break out across the Hudson Valley sometime Monday – but whether it will start in the late morning or hold till the evening is uncertain.
