Wind fans forest fire in Southern California

Officials warn that air quality may reach unhealthy levels in the areas affected by the smoke.

The fire appears to have knocked out power to more than two dozen homes and businesses in Summit Valley, according to a Southern California Edison outage map.

The blaze broke out Sunday above the high-desert city of Hesperia. The blaze, which is buring near the Pilot Rock Conservation Camp, is being called the Pilot fire.

In the meantime, California’s biggest wildfire, the Soberanes Fire, burning along the central coast, has grown to over 94 square miles in size north of the Big Sur region. The flames got within 100 feet of one home off Highway 173. San Bernardino County fire officials said the Pilot Fire was burning north, as 843 personnel continued the fire fight.
