A tragic incident along the Virginia Beach Oceanfront unfolded on Wednesday as a Chester woman was killed after wind blew an anchored umbrella into her chest.

When crews arrived, the woman was found suffering from a life threatening injury.

A witness told WTKR that the umbrella got caught up in the wind and became airborne before it hit the victim.

“It was probably the most scariest things I’ve ever seen”, Martin said.

Wind gusts at the time of the accident were between 20 and 25 miles per hour.

The woman later died at an area hospital, police said.

There is no indication of foul play, Virginia Beach police spokesman Officer Patrick Kane said.
