This might all come as a relief to users who missed the boat on their free upgrade but they’ll have to park their morals at the door. The update will be made available on desktops, laptops, smartphones, and to the Xbox One.
The Windows 10 Anniversary Update marks the commemoration of the first anniversary of Windows 10 OS, the inaugural edition of which was released on July 29, 2015.
What follows is a selection of new features that we particularly like about the update.
For older computers, the main benefits are increased stability and security.
Features of the new Xbox Summer Update include Background Music, Cortana on Xbox One, Improved Game Collection, Language Region Independence, Xbox and Windows Store convergence, Facebook Friend Finder, Improved sharing on Xbox One and more.
Deep touch-screen and pen support as well as voice interaction with Cortana are unique, as is face login with Windows Hello.
It still borrows the “Most used” and adds a list of “Recently added” apps to a maximum of three.
The update will roll out gradually to Windows 10 users, starting with the newest machines first.

The download page clearly states that the extension is meant for users of the assistive technologies and not the general public, but nevertheless, anyone can click the “Upgrade Now” button to download and run the executable. The Windows 10 Anniversary Update has been released right after Microsoft chose to start charging users for Windows 10 downloads, as previously Windows 10 was available for absolutely free. According to The Verge, the upgrade reportedly does not make any checks and just goes through with no problems.
