Windows 10 anniversary update set for August

Microsoft also detailed some of the enhancements that will arrive in the Windows 10 Anniversary Update after 2 August. The update was announced in March earlier this week, and will be free for users running Windows 10.

“The Windows 10 Anniversary Update is a great example of this – and we look forward to building on it even further in the future”.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) Microsoft has a birthday present for Windows 10 users: more capabilities for its Cortana digital assistant and new ways to ditch passwords.

If you thought the previous upgrade notifications were invasive, wait until you see the full-screen, purple announcements that are appearing from now until July 29 – the day the free Windows 10 offer ends. Many have complained about Microsoft’s aggressive tactics to get people on Windows 10 and as the free offer enters its final month, Microsoft is making one final annoying push to get you on Windows 10 if you haven’t already thrown in the towel and upgraded. It seems to have something to do with Windows Enterprise edition, a subscription-based version of Windows 10 for businesses with 250 employees or more.

Microsoft is known to delay the update dates so don’t be surprised if we feature another article on the same topic. The current retail price for Windows 10 Home is $120, and for Windows 10 Pro the upgrade sticker is $200.

There are also a few interesting upgrades for the developers with the implementation of Ubuntu Bash, which automatically runs the Linux code on top of the Windows, claimed CBC News. Microsoft Windows 10 will have the option whether the user wants to update his window or not.

The move is interesting considering Microsoft is just less than a month away from ending the free Windows 10 upgrade offer, which ends July 29. Over 300 million people have upgraded. Since the launch, 9 billion hours of gameplay is done on the Windows 10.

Microsoft’s Corporate VP of Windows Kevin Gallo dropped a major hint at the Surface Phone saying that their next Windows 10 Mobile device would be “category innovating”.

This time, Microsoft’s campaign is out in the open, with a special support page confirming the full-screen notifications and detailing the process.
