Windows 10 can automatically disable pirated software

Buried within the Windows 10 “End User License Agreement” or the EULA, is a section which basically says that the new OS has permission to scan your machine for pirated software and remove it from your system. Another privacy issue interconnected with Microsoft’s latest Cortana feature in Windows 10, which not only asked for user’s private information, but also for monitoring it on a routine basis.

But, even without this service, users can still use OneNote for their Windows 8 or Windows 10 devices by simply downloading its free app version.

“So that you can use material protected with digital rights management (DRM), like some music, games, movies and more, DRM software may automatically contact an online rights server and download and install DRM updates”. This means that your ripped games and freely downloaded Adobe Photoshop are safe. However, under Microsoft’s new EULA, Windows 10 Mobile would be able to combat any pirated software a user loads onto their phone.

This is great news for people looking to find new apps and updates for their existing software that have trouble currently.

There is no word yet as to whether Microsoft will also try to disable the illegal copy of games for the PC platform but Alphr said in their report that it might be unlikely to happen. However, Windows 10 is the first ever version of Windows where Microsoft is pitching its marquee operating system as a service instead of a standalone software product.

Windows 10 is being positioned as a key part of Microsoft’s game business, so it’s not a surprise that it is taking steps to clamp down on game piracy.
