Windows 10 slow and clean install
This method will ensure that you receive and retain your free Windows 10 license. Something happened with your computer during Windows 10 setup, the error tries to tell you, but Windows isn’t exactly sure what it was or doesn’t have what it takes to describe it in more words so that a human can understand it and act accordingly. Deleting those files can get you back up to 20 GB of disk space. Wondering which way should you go?

If this is going to be a temporary look at Windows 10, or if you’re only running it occasionally, it’s better to run it in a virtual environment.
Now we’ll explain how to use Oracle VirtualBox to run Windows 10 as a virtual machine, but the process using Parallels Desktop for Mac or VMware Fusion is broadly the same.
If you will be installing the operating system for the first time, you will need a Windows product key (xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx). This is a good option to try out new Windows but not recommended for heavy and regular tasks.
Note: It may seem a bit hard to identify the Windows iteration you’re using by looking at the given list, especially because all boot possibilities are enlisted, such as optical or removable drives. If you are upgrading to both Home and Pro on different systems, then you will need to create two different install media as there is no option to create “Home and Pro” – only one or the other. No third-party tools required.
By installing Windows 10, you get access to a host of new features. This is not a mandatory step but is highly recommended.
Right now, the easiest, cheapest, and fastest way to get Windows 10 on your Mac is Boot Camp, and that’s what we’re using for this tutorial. Once there, you just click “Remove Everything”.
Insert blank USB drive into your Mac. While Boot Camp is very stable, anything can go wrong when you partition your hard drive, and you want to be protected. Once checked, go to the next step.
Now you need to install the Boot Camp drivers that are on the USB stick.
Boot Camp will now create your USB installation disk which may take a little while.
Use the slider to assign the storage space (min. 20GB) to the new partition > click install. That “Windows 10 is not activated” message is a problem to consider, but not for a short-term experiment like this one.
Windows 10 runs well on the Mac – on our early-2014 MacBook Air, the OS hasn’t shown any noticeable sluggishness or major issues that you wouldn’t find on a PC. With the lower two options ticked on the opening splash screen and the USB drive connected, I readied myself for the worst and clicked Continue.
This will be followed by BootCamp installer which will run through multiple steps to set up drivers and Mac’s hardware to work with Windows. This is a critical decision: after you choose, you can not shrink or expand the partition without completely reinstalling Windows.
The Windows 10 Error Code 80240020 is most likely a result of a corrupt Windows Update folder, which in turn prevents Windows 10 setup from starting. Think about how much space you’ll need for your longterm needs, as the only way to adjust this later is to erase the partition and install the operating system all over again. This will free you from the worry of choosing an operating system every time you boot your Mac. Boot Camp will ask for your password and then restore your Mac to its original state. You can’t remap keys easily, which means if you were used to using Cmd+c for copy on OS X, you’ll have to remember that it won’t work on Windows (it’s Cntrl+c).
Once you have the Windows 10 ISO downloaded, open the Boot Camp assistant. You are now running Windows 10 in a virtual machine on your Mac.

Next few screens will ask you about where Windows 10 should be installed and your intended usage. Users have been able to install Windows on a Mac for years, and Microsoft’s latest operating system is no exception. And before we get started, it goes without saying that you shouldn’t attempt this without backing up first and understanding that you could cause a few serious damage by following in my footsteps.
